Getting There / Flight Schedule

The most active travel season for tourism in Greenland runs from June through August. There are a number of options for air travel to and from Greenland during these summer months. Air travel in other months is limited to once or twice a week. Travelers can originate in Iceland or Copenhagen, Denmark throughout the summer. GST provides air bookings from and Iceland.

2008 Flights between Iceland and East Greenland

There are daily round trip flights between Reykjavík City Airport in Iceland and Kulusuk in eastern Greenland between 26 May and 15 September except on Sundays. Between 30 June and 16 August there are two round trip flights per day, except Sundays. The flight time is 2 hours. GST offers packages including flights, accommodations and all meals for Kulusuk and Ammassalik, sister towns in East Greenland. 2008 Flights between Iceland and Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, located in West Greenland


There are three weekly round trip flights between Keflavík International Airport in Iceland and Nuuk operating on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The first flight departs on 29 May and the last flight on 05 September. The flight time is 3 hours and 15 minutes. Departing flights from Keflavík afford acceptable connecting times from Icelandair's US overnight flights, which generally arrive before 7:00 AM each morning. See our offerings at

There are two weekly round trip flights between Reykjavík City Airport in Iceland and Narsarsuaq in southern Greenland operating on Tuesdays and Fridays. The first flight departs on 30 June and the last flight on 19 September. The flight time is 2 hours. See our offerings at:

Internal Greenland air travel

Please note that Air Greenland operates all internal flights in Greenland. Flights operate on a regular bases connecting from Kangerlussuaq to Ilulissat, Nuuk and Sisimiut. Internal flight connections between regions are often $500 and more per leg per person. For example, to fly from Kulusuk in eastern Greenland to Ilulissat in western Greenland often requires two or more connections as well as a possible overnight and costs approximately US$880.00. Check with GST for the best and most economical options.
